  i recently moved back to my home town after being away for several years and doing the "fade".

  i have family still in, so people heard that i was back in town.

  i got six invitations to the memorial and a couple of phone calls about the special talk.

  ROFLMAO just picturing the scene! Especially if you said it with just the right touch of sincerity and urgency. I'll bet they'd stand there 5 minutes easy.

  When they come by for a "Return Visit", just try the same thing again and see how long they stand there the 2nd time around. Love that sign too!

  I think that kid has put about the same amount of thought into his "stand" on blood as the average dub. Maybe the boys in Brooklyn could take a few cues from him in wording their next brain twisting article on blood fractions.

  Just teasing you Blondie. Hope you know my tongue is almost permanently fixed in my cheek. I, as so many others have stated, truly appreciate the ongoing labor of love you provide here every week.
  
  But, for those who were lucky enough to escape attending (JGnat you bad influence on your hubby!) and/or get their own personal copy of the Craptower, here's PARAGRAPH 16 in all it's glory:
  
  
  "These words clearly show that the great worldwide evangelizing work of Jehovah's Witnesses has angelic backing and direction. Jehovah is using his angels to direct sincere people to his Witnesses. The angels have also guided the Witnesses to deserving ones.   The main reason I noticed it is it's the same point that was made just 2 weeks ago in the WT study lesson!!! I posted about it here:

  The pet-peeve quote from 2 weeks ago was: "Proof of angelic help has often been related in Bible literature published by Jehovah's Witnesses.* (References were cited) Such experiences are far too numerous to be dismissed as coincidence."
  
  This week it was:
  
  "This would explain why it is that on so many occasions -- too often to be just coincidence..."
  
  DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!!
  
  As usual, they say "far too numerous" or "too often" but don't even give so much as a ball-park figure as to how many times they're talking about. If the WTB$ ever starts banning specific books, "INNUMERACY" by John Allen Paulos should be on it. It's about statistical misunderstandings in every-day life written for the lay person.
  
  If any group (Girl Scouts, Harri Krishnas, Mormons or Comcast Cable ) were to spend 3.5 million hours EVERY DAY banging on doors, they are inevitably going to interrupt suicides or be there soon after someone prayed for guidance. BTW, in my earlier post I stated a low-ball number of 2.7 million hrs/day. I got 3.5 million by taking the latest figures from the "new and improved" Revelation Book. It showed that in 2005, there were 1,278,235,504 hours spent preaching. Divide by 365 and you get 3.5 million hours/day of wasted human potential.
  
  OK, I'm done with my pet-peeve rant now.

  i was raised among the witnesses and left in my early 30's due to a mixture of doctrinal disputes and social isolation.

  my mother and both of my sisters remain within the organization.

  i also have two brothers, one df'd, one who never quite caught the watchtower bug.. my road within the organization was a rocky one that eventually lead to a place where i found myself socially isolated within the congregation as a person simply unfit for fellowship with proper, upright, theocratic people who must cut off all 'worldy' association, suffer the ensueing isolation, and eat humble pie until such a time as they determined i was 'spiritual minded' enough for them to associate with.. baptism was held up as my expected goal, but despite trying, i was never quite good enough for them.

  Reunited With My Disfellowshipped Daughter Today

  long story short: my daugher was df'd about 7-8 yrs ago.

  bitter and resentful toward me, abusive jw ex-husb and the elders that didn't want to listen to her side.

  saw her briefly at my younger daughter's wedding in 2003.. my mom died last week.

  Definitely not for "True Christians" tm.

  I'm sure we'll have a Young People Ask article about this soon. Khakis are the only men's casual wear with Jehober's approval. As for you, young lady, just take your cue from the photos in the litter-ature and let your "quiet and mild spirit" guide you to a large, flowing, ankle-length dress. And make sure you wear it when you do yard work, too. Tee hee.

  When my wifey wears her hottest pair of denim, self-control is not a fruitage I even think about working on .

  ARE TIGHT JEANS ON A GUY "GAY"?

  I say yes. Wifey says no. She's always trying to get me to wear tighter ones and we end up compromising somewhere between "Snoop Dogg baggy" and "George Michael shrink wrap".

  BTW, save the "you're a homophobe" flames for another thread. I lost that hangup a long time ago. Gay is fine with me, I'm just not. .......... Gay, that is.
